The career options are very important because you want to do something in your field of interest. Some cities are more technocratic, while others more artistic. For example San Francisco, Los Angeles or New Orléans are known for their culture and entertainment industries, while New York, Boston, Denver are more technocratic or financial centers.

2. Living costs

Since you have just graduated, you probably don't have a lot of money and you are in debt. Finding a place with a good rent is vital at this stage. Besides rent, do not forget about other expenses. In some cities, things are more expensive. In a city with lots of people, renting an apartment is very expensive. As a young graduate you'll need to move to a city that keeps living expenses as low as possible. This will allow you to save some money to pay off your college debt.

3. Keep your friends close

Being alone in a big city can be a gamble. It is way safer and easier to know someone who lives there. They can tell you about the city and you have someone to count on if anything bad happens to you. If there are other students that are thinking of moving o the same place as you, keep in touch with them as any acquaintance can prove very important in a new city.
